Holy Abandon
God gave me the following prayer, Holy Abandon, prior to the Concert of Prayer event on October 1st. I feel led of God to share it with you today. (I highly recommend listening to A Call to Anguish by David Wilkerson, which inspired a portion of the prayer. This message will change your life!)
Holy Abandon
Holy, holy, holy are You Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come.
I give you glory, honor and power
and praise you above everyone.
You appointed me to this place and hour
that I might live in holy abandon.
I renounce every union made with the world,
no longer lured by its charm and romance.
I have but one lover. His name is Jesus,
Lion of Judah, sacrificial Lamb.
Worthy are you Lamb of God,
viciously, ruthlessly slain,
to receive power, wisdom, riches and praise.
All glory and honor to your name.
You are worthy to receive not just a share,
but all of my time, my esteem, my prayer.
Forgive me the sin of prayerlessness,
for walking away when you tenderly call.
No longer will preoccupation or busyness
time wasting or laziness,
idol worship or disinterest
keep me from your throne.
I close every door I have opened to the enemy,
break every agreement with him I’ve made
through disobedience, pride, ambition
or a desire to be entertained.
I refuse him any place in me,
any power over my prayers.
Claim every stronghold demolished,
every thought captive to Christ and His cares.
Holy Spirit of “grace and supplication,”
infuse my life with Your prayers.
As You continually call, “Abba, Father,”
enable me to sing along,
to dance in step with your artful leading
no longer deaf to the rhapsody of song.
Holy Spirit who descended as holy fire,
set ablaze and consume
every trace of sin that dwells within,
Expose what is hidden from view.
Make me an acceptable sacrifice,
pleasing unto You.
Show me the sewage of flesh and compromise
that exists and grows and heartily thrives
in my heart, my mind, my life.
Make me holy, LORD, as You are holy!
No more temporal preoccupation.
No idol worship, no vain pursuit.
No work of fleshly creation.
No lies, no pride, no selfish ambition,
No more partial sacrifice.
No more games, No more pretending,
No more tempering of heavenly desire.
Possess me now!
Wholly I bow
Immerse me in the fire of your Word!
Show me things I’ve never seen!
A glimpse of you of which I’ve only heard.
I long, I desire, I crave, I yearn
for more and more of You,
That I might live with eternity
clearly, unavoidably, blindingly in view.
I want to be completely yours,
Completely right before You.
Today! Not tomorrow, next week or next month,
Today change me anew!
Baptize me in Your holy anguish,
not a flash of fleeting emotion.
I refuse passivity, comfort and complacency,
choose Your grief, Your burden, Your pain.
Mourn with You the ruin of Joseph –
the state of the Church, the nation, the shame.
Pray night and day for souls destined for hell,
for the elect who have grown cold,
For ministries powered by inventions of man,
whitewashed, polished, born of earthly mold.
Lifeless, powerless, useless and dead,
into demonic servitude the Church has been sold.
I repent of our sin of rationalization,
calling evil good and Truth evil.
Repent of false ministers declaring peace,
when a day of discipline and righteous judgment
Is waiting in the wings.
Send Your Holy Spirit of burning fire
into my church, my community, my state.
Consume our ability to sit secure,
entertained, occupied, betrayed.
Send laborers into the ripened harvest;
Only let me be the first
to labor before You in fervent prayer
to see You turn the worst
sinner, saint – both alike
from Satan’s numbing curse.
I leave tonight to remain
often and long alone,
bowed low in humble adoration
before Your majestic throne.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty
worthy of all praise,
I yield my life, my desires, my all
to Your wiser, higher ways.
Take me, use me, fill me now.
Complete Your work in me.
Send me into the world around
endued with Your power and ability.
In Jesus stead I pray,
So be it!
