What We Do
Shades of Grace Ministries is a Christian, nonprofit organization that shares God’s comfort for life’s trials with hurting people. Since 2000, Shades of Grace has brought the life-changing Word of God to thousands of hurting men and women around the world, inspiring them to seek and apply God’s Word in every circumstance.
Our Origin
Through years of devastating illness, God gave Natalie Nichols the most invaluable gift she could ever receive — that of knowing Jesus more intimately. Stripped of all self-sufficiency, she came to exist by the life of Jesus and the power of God’s Word.
God comforted Natalie in the midst of immeasurable suffering through the Living Word (Jesus) and the written Word (the Bible). Psalm 119:50 became reality in her life — “This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction: that Your word has revived me and given me life” (Psalm 119:50, AMPC).
Natalie had accepted the call to vocational ministry prior to this, in 1985 at the age of fourteen. Rather than send Natalie to seminary when she reached her early 20’s, God chose to send her to a “school of suffering.” The education she received there prepared her for her calling and gave her a specific message God wanted her, and eventually an organization, to share.
In 2000, God led Natalie to found Shades of Grace Ministries. His commission for the ministry was 2 Corinthians 1:4, which remains our mission:
“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT
Our Mission
Shades of Grace Ministries exists to share God’s comfort for life’s trials. We bring the life-changing Word of God to hurting men and women who desperately need a touch from Him, reaching them in the midst of their trials and pointing them to Christ.
Teaching a lifestyle of dependence upon Jesus and God’s Word, we strengthen and establish others in their faith, inspiring them to seek and apply the Word of God in every circumstance.
Our Vision
We desire to see a world where every Christian walks by faith and stands upon God’s promises for their life.
Our Audience
Through its programs, Shades of Grace Ministries reaches several hundred thousand people each year across multiple continents and dozens of countries. In addition, through the speaking ministry of Natalie and Sandra Nichols, Shades of Grace reaches a wide audience via TV/radio interviews, conferences, and speaking engagements at host churches and organizations.
What We Offer
A unique testimony.
With a unique combination of passion, abilities, personality, and life experiences, we offer a message of God’s love and transforming power in a manner that reaches those who may not otherwise be open to the Gospel.
A balanced message about suffering and healing.
Believing completely in God’s ability to supernaturally and miraculously heal the hurting, we also strive to balance that belief with the whole counsel of God’s Word concerning the suffering we may face throughout our lives.
An illustrated message about the life of faith.
Recognizing the power and truth of the Bible, we offer an encouraging message based on the timeless Word of God and its unique application to people through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. In short, we demonstrate how to appropriate God’s Word — how to live by faith in God’s universal and personal promises — in a way that inspires people to do the same.
